Los Angeles has always been the kind of town where creative types need their work places. Thankfully, there are a multitude of excellent coffee shops and espresso bars where one can hang out for hours on end with a fully charged laptop. As the stereotype goes, everyone’s a screenwriter (or some kind of writer) in Los Angeles, but these spots work for anyone looking to just get away for a while to study, answer some emails, or browse the internet. Here they are, presented north to south: 18 great places to to sit, sip coffee, and savor some precious wifi.
1. Steeple House Coffee
Sun Valley, CA 91352
Steeple Coffee’s unique digs are certainly part of its charm. The Sun Valley hit operates out of Grace Community Church, keeping daily hours 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. (except Sunday, when things slow down for service, of course). The ample parking also helps.

Pasadena, CA 91107
Pasadena’s Rosebud Coffee is a great place to work as a group. With big tables, blazing wifi, and lots of sunlight, it’s almost impossible not to get some important work done. It helps, too, that the shop has a do-good element that helps raise money for homeless youth in Los Angeles.
